Hi there, my name is Remkus de Vries. Well, it’s actually Joeke-Remkus, but given how most of you will pronounce the J as dzy … I decided to drop my first name. Online that is.
I am from the Netherlands, but really I consider myself a world (class) citizen. In most of the social media biographies, such as Twitter, you will find me describing myself as something like this:
Spiritual being having a human experience. Love my wife and kids, NLP & Mindmapping, WordPress and Life in general. Uomo Universale wannabe™, Frysk. “Something something WordPress”.
… but that’s just a sliver of what constitutes me 😊.
I’m 46 years old and happily married to Karin and proud father of my son, Roan, and daughters Marinde & Sterre. I live in the province of Fryslân, the Netherlands –which explains my Frisian first names.
I have the best jobs. I work as a Head of Partner & Customer Relationships at – the most wonderful – Servebolt. The number one fastest WordPress hosting company out there.
One of my other tasks at Servebolt is helping to make the world a better place. I do that specifically by working in the WordPress community in any way which way I can. Whether that be organizing WordCamps and WordPress Meetups in attending or speaking at them. Additionally, I’m also helping out with the Dutch Polyglots team.
Additionally, together with my wife, we run a premier WordPress agency as called buro KREAS. We are building fast, secure and scalable solutions in with WordPress, custom themes, and custom plugins.
Yes, very very much!
Not only am I working with this wonderful piece of software every single day in all the various capacities, but I’m also the admin of the Dutch WordPress forums, as well as lead the translations team
and make sure the Dutch WordPress version is released in a timely fashion. Fortunately, this is fully automated nowadays.
On top of that, I’m also the president of the Stichting WP Nederland and one of the things we do is organize the Dutch WordCamps.
Speaking & Events
Not stopping there though, I was also the co-founder and (co-)lead for the first two WordCamp Europe conferences and as a general rule, love to go and speak at and attend WordPress Meetups and WordCamps. Find out here where I have been and where I will be going.
If you’d like to speak me at your event, please contact me here.
